And always backup your PC regularly and especially before installing any AV program. And remember that if you already have a virus on your PC it's probably too late for NAV, or any other AV program, to do you much good. If you use NAV be sure to uninstall any other AV programs before installing it (you might use the free Revo Uninstaller for this). I can't remember what my issues were with it, but after trying it I quickly reverted to Norton AV plus a separate spyware program, etc.
And contrary to some reviews, I've found that when your annual subscription runs out, NAV continues to function - it just doesn't update your virus definitions until you renew the program for another year.īut while I have been satisfied with Norton AV, I was not happy with Norton 360, which is supposed to be a comprehensive AV, spyware and email protector program. But I've also seen comparative reviews in the major PC magazines that show Norton to be one of the most effective AV programs available. While I haven't had problems with NAV and never used their tech support, I've read that Norton's tech support is pretty bad, although perhaps getting better, and that the program takes up too much space on the hard drive. As far as I know I've never "caught" a virus or other malware while using this combination. I've never had any serious problems with the program, but along with it for a long time I have also used an anti-spyware program (currently Webroot Spysweeper), the Mozilla Foxfire internet browsor (in place of Interet Explorer), an internet browser anti-malware add-on (McAfee Site Advisor) and a backup program (currently Norton Ghost).
Nonetheless, I've used Norton AV since its inception way back in the 1980's (ever heard of DOS, Peter Norton or the Norton Utilities). I am a very satisfied customer.Īt the outset I should say that I'm 65, have used a PC since they first came out, and perhaps I'm too set in my ways. Could you suggest a solution for me? I love ordering from and will continue to do so as I have saved hundreds of dollars over the past year in purchases. Also, is there a quicker version of speeding up the connection after installation without having to contact my network provider? I am hesitant about downloading some of the "quick fixes" because this is how the viruses got onto my other computer the first time. I have DSL Hi-Speed Internet and would like to know how I can find out why this cd take up so much of my memory on my desktop, but not my laptop computer.
One thing that has really baffled me, is the speed of my memory on my desktop computers (I have two) will not perform at the speed that they did originally before I installed the antivirus program. This no longer happens!!! It really makes a difference when I am working on a school paper and do not have to worry about being interrupted with the foolishness and obscene advertising of other websites. I am very pleased with the performance and the blockage of all of the nonsense pop-ups that I used to get on my laptop.
The CD was very easy to install on my laptop and also on my desktop computers. I was very impressed in the packaging and the product material.
I received my Norton Antivirus CD in the mail within 4-5 days of ordering.
